The journey of this project started on a beautiful summer day in Furillen, Gotland in 2009, when Johan Hellström and Paul Jerndal's paths crossed...

Paul was running the Swedish TV show "Sommar med Ernst" and Johan was running his passion project Fabriken Furillen. Through having a similar drive and passion for creating visual projects and sharing a desire to combine art forms, the thought of creating something together seemed inevitable.

In 2011 Frida Sundemo and Paul met through an acoustic collaboration for an emotional private concert in Stockholm. Sharing a love of music, they also creatively found each other.

After Cinematographer Pär Eliasson joined the project, more and more creators came along and finally the project was presented at an event at Fotografiska Furillen where Henrik Schyffert had a photo exhibition. Johan Hellström then introduced the ideas of From One Island To Another to Furillen.

Frida Sundemo also performed her song Sky for the first time with Paul Jerndal and drummer Kalle Lindvall in a unique arrangement for the project. By doing a naked acoustic version of the song combined with a digital version, they aimed to take the audience from Gotland to Manhattan and back again. In the audience a friend of Johan´s and Paul´s with great experience of this specific journey was found. The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Jan Eliasson who spends his Summers at Gotland and works in New York City encouraged the two creators to continue the journey.

They also got words of encouragement from Karin Mamma Andersson, one of Sweden's most internationally famous artists, and her husband contemporary artist, Jockum Nordström, who both spend time on Gotland and Manhattan.

That night Michael Blomqvist, owner of the spectacular building Studio Furillen, expressed interested in the project. Michael has a great interest and passion for art and decided to sponsor this project. This also helped get the architect Andreas Forsberg of Studio Furillen on board. This building served as an important piece for the integration of the architectural element of the project.

Several creators then came along and the film was finally in production in August 2011 on Gotland and Manhattan. Post production started the same fall and since has been touring on the film festival circuit all over the world starting with the Bornshorts Film Festival. The project is now released online for the public.
